Re-engage diversity statement
Re-engage’s vision is a world where no one is ever too old to make friends and enjoy social interaction and we could never come close to achieving that without putting equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging at the heart of what we do.
We’re a charity with a mission to work within communities to end social isolation and loneliness in older people. By developing Re-engage as an intergenerational community, we can challenge ageism and ensure that we’re all treated as equals.
We‘re determined to represent and amplify the voices of those aged 75+, working with them to develop new and existing services that will reach a greater and more diverse group of socially isolated and lonely older people.
Our research is teaching us about the needs and experiences of older people in communities across the UK so that we can diversify our activities and reach new audiences. Our rainbow call companions service supports older people identifying as LGBT+ and we’re actively developing our services to reach older people from ethnic minority groups and backgrounds in London.
We want to empower our volunteers and staff and be a first-class volunteer-involving organisation and a great place to work. We want to be the place where everyone is valued and can fulfil their full potential. We want all our colleagues, volunteers and supporters to feel comfortable and able to bring their true selves to work.
Our small and diverse team of staff are based throughout the UK, and we welcome applications from all, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race, sex, sexual orientation, trans status or social economic background.
