FAQs about rainbow call companions
If you’ve a specific preference, please let the Re-engage team know. It may not always be possible for us to find an older person for you to make regular calls to, but we’ll always try our best.
Absolutely, if you’re happy to be make regular calls to more than one older person.
Rainbow call companions is only open to people who identify as LGBT+. This is an important part of our approach to ensure that the service is a truly safe space for older people. If you don’t identify as LGBT+ and would like to support older people over the phone, please consider joining our call companions service.
"It is my personal commitment that we need to reach older people from every background and every walk of life and to work to end loneliness for all. Finding people who have led multiple different lives, finding people who have long experienced discrimination, and finding ways to end the chronic loneliness and social isolation for all are crucial to our work as we move forward. We as a charity have to try harder to open our arms to everyone who needs us." – Meryl Davies, CEO 2018 to 2023
Please take a look at our training. Whilst rainbow call companions is specifically for people who identify as LGBT+, the topics of conversation don’t need to be LGBT+ specific.
