Earlier this year, Isabel ran her first marathon in Manchester, raising money for causes close to her heart.
“To be honest, I always said before I would never do one but felt like it was the next challenge, as I had only ever done a couple of half marathons before then.
“I wanted to raise money for charities that I thought were worthwhile and of importance to me. I always feel a lot of sadness thinking of older people being lonely, so finding a charity like Re-engage, that aims to bring happiness to them, I felt was extremely valuable.”
Isabel completed the marathon on Sunday 16 April 2023, in 4 hours and 30 minutes. “I didn't have a personal best with it being my first but funnily enough it was exactly the time I hoped I would run it in, so I was pleased.
“It was difficult but actually very rewarding having lovely supporters there cheering you on, even people you don't know, and also knowing the money being raised from it was going to good causes helped a lot.”
From holding a bake sale, to walking 5km, or even running a marathon, there are lots of different ways to raise money for Re-engage. If you're thinking of taking part in an event, get in touch, and we'll be there to support you along the way.
