At Re-engage, we’re always looking for new ways to bring people together and combat loneliness. That’s why we’re thrilled to have launched a brand new social group in Bristol, in partnership with our friends at Tinto Lounge.
The idea behind the new group was to create a warm, welcoming space where people could connect. Ed, one of our Engagement Team Managers, explained: “There’s something special about sitting down together over food or a warm drink; it’s a shared experience, a moment of connection, and the creation of lasting memories.”
The collaboration with Tinto Lounge came about when their team, eager to continue making a positive impact in their community, contacted us. They offered to provide a meeting space for those experiencing isolation or loneliness, which aligned perfectly with our goal of opening new groups in the Bristol area. One of our guests summed up why the venue was the perfect setting: “Going to a restaurant made the experience feel much more normal - like going out for lunch with friends. Being in a space with the wider community made me feel more connected.”
The restaurant's lively atmosphere added to the experience, creating a vibrant setting filled with conversation and laughter. The staff played a big role too, offering warm greetings and friendly chats that made the event even more enjoyable.
Ed continued: “Setting up the group was a true team effort. Our Engagement Officers and Service Delivery Officers identified people who would benefit from attending and reached out personally to invite them. We also contacted volunteers from our existing groups, as well as those yet to take on face-to-face roles. With the support of the fantastic Tinto Lounge team and our project lead, Ellie, who took the time to meet and greet the guests and volunteers, everything came together quickly.
“Everyone at Tinto Lounge made sure we felt welcome, even writing about the event on their mirror notice board so everyone was aware. As soon as the group sat down, conversations flowed effortlessly. We ended up staying for a wonderful two and a half hours, simply enjoying the company and atmosphere.”
Here’s what some of our guests had to say:
-
“I’m so happy to be here, I’ve been looking forward to it all week.”
-
“I don’t get to see many people anymore. Where I live, nobody wants to do anything, so this is lovely!”
Ed concluded: “We’re excited to keep this group going! A new date has already been set for the next gathering, and we’re now looking for a Group Coordinator to help run the group. We’re also on the lookout for more volunteer drivers and guests so we can continue to grow this wonderful community.”
