Pickering’s now-famous Brussels Sprout Gin, which is being sold to help support our Community Christmas campaign, has been tasted by its toughest critics yet – older guests Sandy, Francis, Jessie, Helen, Bett, Bunty and Sandra.

Rebecca and Leah from Pickering’s Gin travelled from Summerhall Distillery in Edinburgh to the picturesque village of Kippen for a special tea party with Re-engage guests and volunteers. Everyone was treated to a tasting of Pickering’s six festive flavours: Christmas Clementine, Festive Cranberry, Spiced Pear and Cinnamon, Plum and Ginger, Figgy Pudding and Brussels Sprout. Guests and volunteers were entertained with the fascinating history of gin and insider knowledge of how 10,000 Perthshire brussels sprouts were transformed into the distinctive deep green gin.

The Kippen group are never afraid to try something new and lively discussions about the best flavour ensued - with Brussels Sprout being a surprise hit. The group tasted the gins alongside a delicious spread of scones, cake and sandwiches made by hosts Richard and Alice, and the fun and laughter continued when volunteer Ali produced a huge bag of colourful wigs.

It was fantastic to see the good work that the charity does and how it really makes a difference in peoples lives.
