Four colleagues from a business charity that helps place students in the retail industry are running a half marathon in support of older people.
Georgia, 26, Libbie, 20, Eve, 21 and Anais, 27, all work for London-based Education for Industry (EFI) and will be tackling a 13-mile trail along the River Thames. They aimed to raise £1,000 which will be matched by their company.
Georgia said: “We really want to support older people who may be lonely and we think Re-engage is a great cause so we’ll finish the course even if we have to walk it.”
Libbie added: “My nan, who was 86, went into care before she died and I know she always wanted to see more people of her age getting support and company. The money we raise will help those who are isolated by providing opportunities to make more connections and allowing them to feel valued.”
The Thames Meander Summer Half Marathon takes in a loop from Richmond to Barnes and back and took place on August 10th.
All the four were thrilled to finish the course, and reach their £1,000 target.
