Become a lunch club group coordinator in Crosby

As a lunch club group coordinator, you’ll take turns with the existing lunch club group coordinators planning, organising, and scheduling the weekly lunch club in Crosby. This is an administrative role that requires communicating and socialising with older guests, lunch club volunteers, and minibus drivers.

Lunch clubs take place on a Wednesday lunchtime and taking part each week will be older guests, lunch club volunteers, minibus drivers and the lunch club group coordinator.

Crosby lunch club provides a lifeline of friendship for socially isolated or lonely older people. The warm, regular, and friendly companionship provides a vital link with the outside world from which they’ve become isolated.

To become a lunch club group coordinator, you’ll need to:

  • Have a 30-minute induction call with a member of the Re-engage team
  • Complete an ID check
  • Provide a reference
  • Complete online volunteer training modules

Tasks include:

  • Welcoming and supporting new volunteers into the lunch club so they can start volunteering with confidence.
  • Welcoming new older guests to the lunch club and contacting them before their first lunch club so that they feel welcome and comfortable.
  • Arranging the lunch club schedule so the lunch club group coordinators know when it’s their turn to organise the lunch club.
  • Keeping in regular contact with the lunch club volunteers and older guests and sharing any updates from Re-engage that are relevant to them.
  • Responding to any issues and queries from the volunteers and older guests in the lunch club.
  • Following the guidance in the online volunteer training so that the lunch clubs are safe, enjoyable, appropriate and in line with our charitable aims.
  • Keeping in regular contact with Re-engage and reporting any concerns to the team.
  • Promoting the lunch club in your local area so we can recruit more volunteers and support more older people.
  • Keeping your knowledge and training up to date by reading our monthly volunteer newsletter – Re-engage Matters.

Could you be our next lunch club group coordinator?

  • This is a flexible voluntary role that can easily be fitted in around your own lifestyle and availability.
  • Planning and organising your first lunch club is likely to take several hours of your time, but once the lunch club is up and running, you’ll be volunteering for around four hours a month – roughly broken down into two hours planning and two hours attending the lunch club.
  • We’re looking for lunch club group coordinators who can commit to volunteering for at least 12 months.
  • Expenses are paid for certain activities.
  • Please note that you must be at least 18 years old to become a Re-engage volunteer.

This is a fun, flexible and rewarding role which will enable you to connect with, and make a real and lasting difference to, the lives of older people who are experiencing social isolation or loneliness.

As a valued Re-engage volunteer you’ll receive training, support and regular updates and communication from the Re-engage team.

We’re looking for lunch club group coordinators who have:

  • Good admin and organisation skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • A friendly nature
  • Good listening skills
  • Good conversation skills
  • Patience and understanding
