Lunch club minibus driver role specific training
Training 2: preparing for the lunch club (2 minute read)
On the day of the lunch club there are a few tasks that lunch club minibus drivers need to carry out to make sure that everything can go ahead smoothly.
The lunch club coordinators will put together a rota for the minibus and will confirm with you your availability. If you are no longer available to drive, please get in touch with a lunch club coordinator as soon as you possibly can so that they have enough time to find another lunch club minibus driver.
Working out your route and timings
The lunch club group coordinator will give you the phone numbers and home addresses of the older people you will be driving to the lunch club.
Your next step will be to work out roughly how long it will take you to collect the older people and drive them to the lunch club venue. If you’re not familiar with the route, you can use online services such as Google maps or the AA route planner to plan your journey and get an estimate of how long it will take.
Please bear in mind that you should allow at least ten minutes per older person for pick-up, as it may take them a little while to walk from their front door to the minibus.
